Learn Japanese language & culture for free

This opportunity is brought to you by your Billings Public Library and Southern Montana Intercultural and Language Exchange (SMILE INC). Classes will be taught by Rod Gottula and Rie Kuroki. Rod is a former National Board Certified Teacher of Language Arts and high-school English teacher . He holds a master's degree in linguistics, has spent four years living and working in Japan as part of the JET Program, and is a former Japan Club Advisor. Rie is a native Japanese speaker and part-time translator who has lived in MT for over fifteen years.

Classes will meet from 5:30 to 6:10, beginning on October 11th, at the Billings Public Library, and will focus on teaching students basic spoken Japanese, the Hiragana and Katakana alphabets and various aspects of Japanese culture. The course will serve as a valuable springboard for students who wish to go on to study Japanese at the college level, those who simply want to supplement their love of anime and manga with a dash of academic knowledge, and those who have a strong desire to visit Japan in the future. We only ask that you commit to attending regularly, so that you can truly benefit from the course.

Learning Mad Archery Skills at JHS

Joliet freshman and sophomores got to experience archery for the first time last week during the first ever archery unit. A huge thank you goes to Pat Hayes who was our guest instructor. Pat has 14 years of teaching experience in Spearfish, South Dakota and Broadus, Montana. The kids had a great experience and are really looking forward to the future of our archery program.

Online Grading System

From the Counselor...
Once again this year, the on-line grading system is available for parents/guardians to check the progress of their students. You are able to use last years’ user name and password if you already have them set up. (I do not have access to your username and password)
If you are a first time user, I would be happy to get you the necessary information to access the site.
The site has been posted to the Joliet Schools web page. (Parent Portal) Once you have entered the site, you will select the HELP. It will expand and you can select the Activation key option. The activation key is very long, and I will not give it over the phone. I can e-mail it to you or send it home.
Please let me know if you have any questions. Mrs. Williams also can access the Activation key, so she can also be contacted.
